How A Product Information Repository Can Reduce Product Costs

Written on January 26, 2017 by Caterina Lyng

At the end of last year, TRIMIT released a web-based PIR (Product Information Repository) as a part of our TRIMIT solution for specific industries. The PIR was created to make it easier for our customers to manage their product information across many different channels.

The TRIMIT PIR is similar to a PIM (Product Information Management) System. In this blog post we will have a look at how a PIR can help reduce the cost per product.

TRIMIT PIR

Reducing the Cost Per Product

The PIR can help reduce the cost per product in numerous ways:

  • Faster information retrieval: With product information stored in one system, time spent searching for information can be reduced.
  • Faster editing: Both retailers and manufacturers need less time to edit a product.
  • Fewer returns: Better product information can lead to more sales, and it can also lead to fewer product returns.
  • Less data cleaning: The PIR is built into the TRIMIT solution, and as a result less information has to be updated manually.
  • Less double work, more re-use: With only one entry per product, the chance that the same product is maintained twice are strongly reduced. As product information becomes more centrally available, re-use of product information increases accordingly.
  • Fewer logistical errors: When product information gets better, fewer mistakes are made in logistical processes.
  • Fewer information enquiries: When product information improves, customers have to contact the company less by phone and email to get the information they need.
